1914: Harry Vardon won his sixth British Open, one more than each of the other two members of the "Great Triumvirate," J.H. Taylor and James Braid. Vardon fended off a challenge from Taylor to finish with a 306 total, three strokes ahead of his rival. It was his third win at the Prestwick Club in Ayrshire, Scotland.
