1962: Arnold Palmer, who is credited with reviving American interest in the British Open, put together a remarkable performance at Royal Troon in his successful defense of the Claret Jug. Palmer dominated the field, cruising to a six-stroke victory over Kel Nagle and posting a new Open record total of 276.
