Memorable Moments

1999: Paul Lawrie became the first Scotsman in 68 years to capture the Claret Jug on native soil when he overcame a 10-shot deficit on Sunday. Jean Van de Velde had appeared in control until the Frenchman squandered a three-stroke lead with a triple bogey on the final hole Sunday. Lawrie then made birdies on the last two holes of an aggregate, four-hole playoff to beat Van de Velde and Justin Leonard.
