1955: Cary Middlecoff fended off Ben Hogan and Sam Snead for his first Masters title this year. Middlecoff surged into the lead during the second round with a 65, which included a record 31 on the front nine. He finished with rounds of 72 and 70 for a seven-stroke victory over Hogan, which marked a new tournaments record at the time. |
