1987 -- Olympic Club Lake Course
Scott Simpson won his first U.S. Open title in a final-round duel with Tom Watson. The 31-year-old made three consecutive birdies on the back nine and finished one stroke ahead of Watson. Simpson and Watson were the only two players to post sub-par scores for the tournament.
