1999 -- Pinehurst No. 2
Not only did Payne Stewart clinch the 1999 U.S. Open in dramatic fashion, he was the only player to finish under par at Pinehurst. Stewart's solid performance earned him his second U.S. Open title of the decade. In Sunday's final round, Stewart held off a determined Phil Mickelson and captured the title with a spectacular par save on No. 18.
