Michael Campbell became a national hero when he secured his first career major championship victory in style. Not only did he become the first New Zealander to win the U.S. Open, he became the 57th player to make it his first major win. By winning by two strokes over Tiger Woods, Campbell was the first player to come from behind to win in the last seven years of the tournament.
